Campidoglio
The monumental Piazza del Campidoglio (on the Capitoline hill) with the equestrian bronze statue of Marcus Aurelius in its center was designed by Michelangelo. While enjoying your coffee admire the splendid geometries and symmetry of this square surrounded by three palaces: the Palazzo dei Conservatori, the Palazzo Senatorio and the Palazzo Nuovo.
Facts & Trivia
The square is surrounded by three historic buildings: the Senatorial Palace, which is the current seat of the city government of Rome; the Palace of the Conservators, housing the Capitoline Museums; and the New Palace, which displays a vast collection of ancient artworks. In the center of the square, there is a replica of the equestrian statue of Marcus Aurelius, while the original is preserved in the Capitoline Museum to ensure its preservation.The Capitoline Square offers breathtaking panoramic views of Rome. From here, one can admire the Roman Forum, the Colosseum, and other important landmarks of the city.
