Piazza Navona
Piazza Navona is not only one of the most loved places by travellers, but by Romans as well.
So relax, enjoy a cup of coffee and admire one of the most beautiful squares in the world, one of the masterpieces of Baroque Rome with the architectural works of Gian Lorenzo Bernini, Francesco Borromini.
Curiosità
Piazza Navona gets its name from the Latin term “in agone,” meaning “in the place of games.” The square was originally used for athletic competitions and Roman games. Before Piazza Navona existed, the area was occupied by the Stadium of Domitian, an ancient stadium built in the 1st century AD for sporting events. Some parts of the original structures are integrated into the buildings surrounding the square.
