The Andron
The Royal Palace of Caserta, with its immense park and aqueducts, was the royal residence of the Bourbon dynasty of the Two Sicilies. It is the largest royal palace in the world and was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997.
Upon entering the grand vestibule of the Royal Palace of Caserta, the largest palace in the world, one is led into the internal gallery through an imposing portico that creates an optical effect known as the “perspective view” from which one can see, in a window of light, the lawns of the Royal Park and the waterfall in the background.
Funs & Trivia
At the entrance, a vast octagonal vestibule with twenty Doric columns allows for a view of all four courtyards of the palace. On one side of the octagonal vestibule, the magnificent Double-Flight Grand Staircase can be admired, which connects the lower vestibule to the upper one, providing access to the royal apartments.
