Trevi Fountain

Did you throw already a coin in the Trevi Fountain?
The Trevi Fountain, the most famous fountain in Rome, is one of the symbols par excellence of Baroque Rome, and an obligatory stop for tourists who, by tossing a coin into the fountain, are believed to ensure their return to the Eternal City.

The Trevi Fountain was built in 1762 but stands on a site with an even older history. The area where the fountain is located was part of ancient Rome’s aqueduct, the Aqua Virgo, which was constructed in 19 BC. The Aqua Virgo is still in use today and supplies water to the fountain. The Trevi Fountain has been featured in many famous films. Perhaps the most well-known is Federico Fellini’s “La Dolce Vita,” in which Anita Ekberg has an iconic scene in the fountain.
